Getting Started on Valentines Day craftiness...

So I'm actually still trying to finish up my Holidaily (since it covers part of November, all of December and part of January, it's quite a bit of work). I'm still editing pics from January actually and I have to print those out asap so I can work on that portion of the album. Will try to crank out those pages soon and show you the finished album from beginning to end as soon as I get the chance.  One could say I'm a bit behind, but I like to look at it as an opportunity to brush up on my multi-tasking skills... So while I'm still working on my Holidaily album, I decided to also get started on some Valentines Day craftiness!

Every year for Valentines Day, I like to make something special for my hubby, Ryan, just to remind him how much I love and appreciate him and to document the love that we share! This year I decided to make a clipboard for him that we can also put out as decoration for Valentines Day and for the springtime. I also decided to decorate a giant felt envelope that I got from Target and a cute little canvas pouch so that I can then fill each of these up with love letters, valentines, little notes and pictures of us to present to Ryan with the clipboard and maybe one or two other purchased gifts that I still have to shop for! In the end I should have a whole bunch of fun goodies to give to my Valentine when I ask him once again to "Be Mine!"

The clipboard I used was a simple white wooden one that I found at Target for just a few bucks! I decorated it using the Shine collection by Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper. I stitched a few pieces of the ephemera and patterned paper that I used to decorate the clipboard, before I attached it down, just to add a little something extra to it for more texture and a handmade, "from the heart" feel.  I used Pink Paislee glitter thicker words and shapes for added impact. I also wrote on the "Hello, I love you" ephemera note, and used the clipboard clip to hold down a large pic of Ryan and I, and then added a little pink plastic tab/paperclip to the top of the pic to create a real "office" feel. I popped up the wings of the butterfly and added a little floral, leafy-ness to the clipboard too, just for fun. I really like the way it came out...what do you think? Try it yourself with a pic of you and your loved one for a quick and easy gift for your sweetheart this Valentines Day!
