Hi everyone! I want to share with you this cute layout that I made when I did my first live stream back during NSD weekend . I haven't shared it yet and I thought I should since I think it came out really cute! I just had some fun playing around with some things from my April Hip Kit club kits and also some Crate Paper goodies from my stash. I asked the people watching my live stream that day what I should use for my layout and they challenged me to use some transparencies on my page. I love to use transparencies in my scrapbooking but I usually do so in my mini albums so using them on a layout was new to me. I had so much fun though figuring out how to incorporate a couple kinds of transparencies into my layout. I cut some large strips of patterned paper and some script transparency paper to go across the bottom of my layout, to ground the layout. I used the pink glitter polka dot transparency to frame my photo and added in some ruffled up crepe paper to layer on top of the polka dots. I have been on a bit of a crepe paper kick lately and I just really love using it! I especially love doing this kind of ruffle technique with the crepe paper. I usually will sew the ruffle into place but this time I just used double sided tape and folded the crepe paper back and forth on top of it so that it would make my ruffles around my picture on the page. I decided for this layout that I wanted to make one of those fringe hearts like the ones that came in the Crate Paper Bloom collection by Maggie Holmes. I really enjoyed picking out my papers to cut into strips of fringe and then combine together to make a cute heart embellishment! I added some other hearts to my layout too by using some of the green mist that came in the April Hip Kit to color some of the hearts on the heart patterned paper from Elle's Studio (which I also used as my background paper). I just fussy cut those out and stapled them to the page around my big fringe heart. I also decided to splatter some of that green mist onto my layout (which I decided to do after I spilled a bunch of it on my work space and onto my layout while I was trying to push my paint brush in the bottle to paint those hearts...ooooooops...just goes to show that sometimes even Design Team members make mistakes and we just have to make lemonade out of lemons like you do) :-) ! I did my title "hello today" with some Crate Paper pink thicker letters and the glitter gold "today" word from Pink Paislee. I finished things off with some embellishments -- like enamel dots, little fish tail tags I cut out, washi tape, the little gold binder clip and a gold Hip Kit cut-file star. I really love the way it all came out! I should also tell you that I had started this layout using two 3x4 pictures but it wasn't working so at the very end I switched to one 4x6 picture and it made all the difference. I think that is just a good example and reminder that sometimes in scrapbooking you just need to change one thing to make your layout to work! I really hope you like my layout and that I've inspired you to use some transparencies on your page and also to use some crepe paper and/or to make a fun fringe heart! Have a happy, scrappy day!! xoxoxo
p.s. You can watch me make this layout in my NSD live stream video that is on my FairytaleScrapbook Youtube Channel :-) I start working on the layout at 4:14:29.
