From Faith Planner to Faith Mini Album

Hello there all you super creative, fantastic people! It's Andrea here and today I want to share with you a cool new project using the Simple Stories Faith collection! I made this one for all you who love planning and all you who love scrapping too! I enjoy doing both...which is one of the reasons why I love Simple Stories so much! It has such wonderful papercrafting supplies for both the planner addict and the scrapbook lover in you!

Recently, I came up with this idea to combine my planning and scrapping in a fun new way! I realized that after I finished playing in a planner with a certain theme or for a certain period of time, instead of just storing what I had put in the planner, I could instead take what I had done in my planner (the set up and decorations...all the planning, notes and writing) and incorporate that into a mini album!

It is so easy – you just take what you put in your Carpe Diem planner, transfer it over to a SN@P! album, add in some pocket pages and some photos, and voila!...you've completed a mini album!

I had so much fun creating this project! I decided that I wanted to document my faith in a special way. I chose to do something specifically for this time of year (for March and April because of Lent and Easter). I think this is a perfect time to reflect on one's faith and document it!

So this is what I decided to do – I thought I would plan out my March and April much like normal, but then add in all the cool stuff from the Carpe Diem Faith Insert Set. With the set, I documented things like my prayer list for the month, faith quotes that were inspiring me, etc. I used the cute notebook paper that comes in the set and used those to do some Bible journaling and to reflect on the mass readings from different days during Lent.

I love reading my Bible and it was cool to take notes on the different Gospel readings and things and really study them and explore what they meant to me!

I had fun with all the “nerdy” Bible studying that I did with my planner, but I also really had fun with the creative stuff like the decorating! I especially enjoyed making my cross dashboard! I used the SN@P! Pack  2x2 cards and the SN@P! pocket pages to make my cool dashboard.

This dashboard, and all my other goodies that I used to document my faith in March and April (for the Lent/Easter season), I then moved into my SN@P! 6x8 binder to create my cool “faith book” mini album.

I simply transferred things first, and then started adding in pictures and SN@P! pocket pages. I used the 6x8 paper pad and the SN@P! Pack and chipboard stickers and brads and other embellishments from the Faith collection to fill out my mini.

I love the look of the Carpe Diem planner dividers and notebook papers and things intermixed with all the large photo pages and photo pocket pages!

And I love the look of the calendar pages with the photo pocket pages!

I had fun putting my pocket pages together. I love that Sn@p gives you a range of different sized pockets to play with! I have a hard time sticking to just one or two sizes of pics...I want to use them all...I like a variety!

I also enjoyed adjusting some of the pocket pages to better fit my needs. It is so easy to do this...you just need some scissors and to do a bit of sewing with a strip of patterned paper along the edge (for the hole punching).

I love sewing little touches here and there inside my mini albums. I think it makes for a cuter more personal look.

I love my faith and I'm finding this such a fabulous idea for Lent – because I am not giving something up, but instead using my time to read my Bible more, reflect on what it means and the importance it holds in my life.

Alright well, I hope you enjoyed my cool Planner to Scrapbook Mini Album idea! Hopefully you now have some fun ideas on how to use your Faith collection.

And don't be afraid to mix in those planner goodies with those scrappy ones!

You can use this ideas for your faithbooking like I have (for a special project for Lent, Easter, or anytime of year really) or you could use it for other themed projects as well!

Hope I have inspired you today to put a little planning in your mini album...or a little mini album in your planning...see what I did there?   Anyways, have a great, happy scrappy day, a wonderful Easter and remember to, as I like to say, “live your life as a fairytale”...writing your own happily ever after one Simple Story at a time... Hey, see what I did there too? :-)

Snow and Cocoa Planner Decor for December | Crate Paper

Hi all! Today I thought I would share with you a look at some of my Planner decorations for December – specifically my planned out first week! I used the ridiculously adorable Snow & Cocoa collection by Crate Paper because I think it is just perfect to use for your planner decorating for December!  Snow & Cocoa is such a great and versatile collection because it can be used no matter what holiday or holidays you are celebrating this December. It is a really fun winter-time collection that is perfect for the Holiday season but is not necessarily Christmas specific.

To decorate and plan my first week in December, I first wrote out all my plans in pen and then I started building up my two-page spread with some fun tags and stickers and things. I cut out one large tag from some of the pretty 6x6 tree paper in the collection and I used a smaller pre-made tag from the ephemera pack to layer on top of it. This tag is so super duper cute with the sweet little polar bear on it! I used one of the oh so amazing decorative paperclips from the collection to hold my tags in place. It says “brrr” and I think it works really well with my bear!

I used some really fun stickers like the little girl and the little boy with the cocoa in my planner because I think they just bring a lot of whimsy to my planner pages without feeling out of place. I sometimes find stickers like these that are cartoony in style to be difficult to use for certain scrapbooking/papercrafting projects. However, for a planner, this kind of a sticker is perfect and so fun to use!

I added some little stickers in diamond and circle and snowflake like shapes to signify snow falling on my pages. This is a simple way to add a little bit more movement and flair to your planner pages. You get the feeling that snow is actually falling and it just re-iterates the theme of this decorated week spread which for me is how much I wish I could get snow this month. I know it wont happen since I live in Sunny Southern California...but hey, I can wish right? I actually wrote “dreaming of a white Christmas...in So Cal?!” in the top right corner of my spread to add a little humor to my planner pages.

I really had fun playing with the fabulous Snow & Cocoa collection in my planner pages for December. I hope I have inspired you to do the same as you decorate your upcoming plans for the next week and month! Happy Holiday Season!!!

A Fun-Filled August in My Planner | Hip Kit Club

Hi everyone, it’s Andrea!  Today I want to share with you some fun planner decorating ideas using the beautiful new August Hip Kit Club kits!  I love working in my planner, and, realizing I’d gotten a little behind with my documenting and decorating, I pulled out the new August main kit and the embellishment add-on and started playing with the pretty papers and embellishments to create a new look for my planner for August.

I started by decorating the inside cover pockets and the planner cover page/dashboard. I love making different kinds of dashboards for my planners. For this month I decided to create a look that was really fun, cutesy, girly and summery, with a little bit of sassiness, too. To create my dashboard I used some pretty patterned papers from Cute Girl and a sheet of vellum (from the add-on cardstock kit) to make a cool layered effect.

I decorated the smaller front layer with some of the puffy stickers from Cute Girl, like the sweet little kitty and the script word, “Dream.”  On the vellum paper behind it, along with a couple pieces of ledger patterned paper, I used some washi tape from a previous HKC kit and some tags from the Amy Tangerine “Oh Happy Life” ephemera pack and the exclusive HKC ephemera pack to make a cool “Notes” spot in my planner.

After I finished my cover/dashboard page, I turned to the August calendar spread in my planner and started filling out the month with my schedule. I quickly realized how busy this month is actually going to be.

I decided that my decorating should reflect the busy-ness of the month and also all the exuberant, end-of-summer fun. This is reflected in the rainbow bright colors and whimsical feel of the embellishments I used, especially in the words I used to decorate my calendar.

I chose the Amy Tangerine transparency word “Crazy” and the die-cut word “Happy,” (both from the Oh Happy Life ephemera pack) plus a “captured” ephemera piece from the HKC exclusive ephemera pack to literally spell out how I expect this August to be – a crazy, happy month worth documenting.

After decorating my calendar, I decided to make an August divider page using a picture from this month. I love adding pictures into my planner. I think it helps to bring your plans to life and really show what your everyday life is like.

For the divider page I basically created a small layout using the rainbow-colored patterned paper from Cute Girl as my background. I added my picture and decorated with different embellishments from the kits to finish the layout. I also wrote the word “Hi” in a fun doodle-y fashion directly onto my page.

I had so much fun working on my planner this month, and I hope I have inspired you to decorate your planner using the oh-so-awesome HKC planner kits, which are just chock full of brand new scrappy goodies. Have a happy, scrappy, pretty, planner day!
