"Hey, Hello, Hi" Layout | Hip Kit Club

Hi Everybody! Today I want to share with you a fun way to use the awesome July Hip Kits with some fun brush-script painting!

I just used some paint and some of the white cardstock that comes in the paper add on kit to make my own kind of brush-script "patterned paper" to coordinate with the lovely patterned papers in the kit -- like the lovely polka dot print from Pink Paislee Fancy Free!

I cut it into pieces and used it to frame the photo grid at the center of my layout, along with some of the cool exclusive papers designed by Kim Watson that come in the Main kit!

I used lots of fun embellishments like the Amy Tangerine rubber shapes, the Freckled Fawn gold puffy heart stickers, the Project Life Chipboard stickers, etc to surround my pictures and keep the eye flowing across my page.

I love the vibrant look of the layout and I hope that I have inspired you to combine some fun brush-script painting with your Hip Kit goodies in your scrapbooking today!!!

TMNT Layout | Hip Kit Club

Hey Everybody!!! I want to share with you a fun layout that I did using the June Hip Kit Club kits!

My husband and I went to see the movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, one day in June and it was super awesome! It reminded me of being a kid again, watching the old TMNT movies with my big brother and my Dad. The movie is so bright and hearkens back to the awesome stylings of the late 80's and early 90's so I had to make this layout something that captures that same feeling of vibrant, bold playfulness while still feeling modern! Plus I wanted to use a bunch of greens for the turtles! The June kits were perfect for this because they are so vibrant and colorful. And the Fancy Free paper by Paige Evans from Pink Paislee really helped me build a cool geometric frame for my tubular turtle pic! I used some paint to create a big bold title for my layout and I painted one of the Jilibean Soup wood veneers too and made a paperclip. I sprinkled my page with embellishments from the kit that I thought fit well with the theme, like the tv and the movie camera in the Becky Higgins Project Life Ephemera Pack. I also played with some of the fun Hip Kit exclusive puffy stickers and a couple of the June Hip Kit cutfiles (by moi :-) . I also used some of the cute Crate Paper rubber shapes that I thought went well with the color scheme of my page....Well, I hope you like my totally awesome Turtle Layout and that you are inspired to make something that takes you back to your childhood using the June Hip Kits! Cowabunga!!!

A Bubbly Layout | Hip Kit Club

Hi Everyone! It’s Andrea and today I want to share with you a layout that I did using the June Hip Kit Club kits…about a night out at the movies! My husband and I went to see the movie, “Finding Dory”, recently and we had fun taking some silly photos. The movie was super cute and funny! I love Disney movies! Anyways, since the movie was about a silly fish, I thought Ryan and I should pretend to be silly fishes and take some pics! I love this pic of us with our fish faces! And I wanted to scrapbook it right away.

I think the June Hip Kits are perfect for scrapbooking this picture because it has a fun, colorful, beachy feel to it. I used some pretty light aqua Simple Stories patterned paper with multi-colored plus signs all over it as the background for my layout. I wanted to really create a kind of underwater feel for my layout so I punched a bunch of circles out of different colored patterned papers from the Main Hip Kit (especially the Pink Paislee Fancy Free paper that is like a bunch of patterned papers in one) and I scattered them all over the page. I think they look like bubbles on the page which is cool!

I set the pic of us in the middle, surrounded by “the bubbles” and I stitched on some of the bubbles just to make them pop a little more and to add some texture.

I used the word “laughter” from the exclusive ephemera pack, an ampersand from the June cutfiles (which I got to design, yay), and I used the light blue, metallic alpha stickers to spell out silliness, and I added two more little ephemera words from the exclusive pack that say “with” and “you”…all together they make the title for my layout, which is “laughter and silliness with you”. That is exactly how that moment with my hubby felt and I just really wanted to document it with lots of bright color and “bubbly” fun!

I hope you like my layout and that it has inspired you to take some silly pics with your loved ones and document them with pretty bright colors and patterns like those in the June Hip Kits!

A Mini That's a Day at the Beach | Hip Kit Club

Hello, It’s Andrea, and today I want to share with you this mini album that I made, using the June Hip Kit Club kits, to document a trip to Coronado Island and a lovely day at the beach! Every year we try to go to Coronado Island, right off the coast of San Diego, California, to lay on the beautiful shore there in front of the gorgeous Victorian Hotel del Coronado and go swimming! This has become a bit of a summer tradition for us and I love it!

We haven’t been able to go yet this summer but I know we will soon and while I wait for my day at the Beach, I thought I would make a cute and simple mini album to document our trip there last year. It was a fun way to both dream about my upcoming visit to the beach, and to reminisce about last summer.

Now, when I call the mini “simple”, I certainly don’t mean boring…I wanted to make something that would be bold and beautiful, vibrant and filled with color and summer style but that would be small and fairly quick and easy to make. I chose to make the mini 5 5/8 by 5 1/8 (with all the pages that size) so that the process of making it would be uncomplicated and could go smoother and faster.

However, I did decided to spend a little bit more time on making this mini a bit more special and one of a kind by  creating a few hand-painted patterned pages to go in the album. I used the white cardstock from the Cardstock add on kit and painted them with some Goauche paint.

For the rest of my mini album, I simply cut down all the pattern papers from the kit, used a transparency with a vellum picture for the cover, a piece of thin chipboard from some of the packaging in the kit (the blue and white striped one from the exclusive puffy stickers) for the back, and I bound them all together using my cinch to make my mini album. Oh, I also included some full page pictures in there too (also 5 5/8 by 5 1/8).

Once everything was cinched together, I decorated all my pages. I used different embellishments from the June main kit and embellishment kit…the exclusive pieces, the wood veneers from Jilibean Soup, the buttons from Pink Paislee Fancy Free, the ephemera pack from Becky Higgins Project Life, the metal buttons from Simple Stories, etc..

I made little layouts on the patterned paper pages using small, 3×4 and 3×3 pictures plus the embellishments. I also embellished some of the big picture pages. I also used the June Hip kit die cuts to decorate my album (the ones I designed :-) )!

And to put my own special touch on the mini, I did some stitching and added in some vintage ephemera pieces from Coronado Island (vintage beach pics, a vintage mermaid, vintage postcards, a map of Coronado Island, etc).

I think the mini came out so cute and colorful and it didn’t take to long to make…plus making it was so much fun, it was like a day at the beach documenting my day at the beach!

I hope I have inspired you to make such a mini to document your summer days at the beach too!
