Mini-Workshop!

Hi! It's Andrea here! And for those of you who do not know, The Fairytale Club has a special "fairytale membership" which is like the "premium membership" for our club, and you can subscribe to it (it is super inexpensive)...and you get lots of fun stuff like great discounts for classes and events and things, and you also get a cool membership email each month with lots of ideas and inspiration! But the coolest thing, I think, about the "fairytale membership" is the Mini-Workshops! Each month there is a Mini-Workshop, which is like a small class, and in it you learn how to make a lot of fun stuff!

For May's Mini-Workshop, I made several cool things!!! I made a fab layout and taught about incorporating script and painting into your layout for a bold title... I made a super cute planner divider pocket and showed how to turn it into a spot to boost yourself esteem each month (by placing little notes of inspiration inside)! And I made these really adorable tags...each one inspired by a fave fairytale character who inspired me for the "Girly and Strong" May collection/kit!

Today, I want to share with you my tags!!!

Aren't they so cute!!! I love how each one represents a different strong female in a Disney movie!

I don't know which one is my fave...maybe the Alice one...I love that girl with the pink hair...she is like pink haired Alice!!!

But I really love the Emma Swan one too with the Swan and the Mary Poppins one with the Carousel horse!!!

Which one is your favorite?!!?

I hope you enjoyed this little peek into the Mini-Workshop from May! Please click here to subscribe to our "fairytale membership" now and start joining in on the Mini-Workshop fun!!! Hugs everyone! And remember to live your life as a fairytale!!!

PL Week 13

Hi guys ! It's Mindi here with you today. I am going to be sharing a Project Life type spread using the Girly and Strong kit. I typically scrapbook 12x12 using pocket pages. I also typically do it weekly with a few events thrown in. Here is what the whole thing looks like.

I am going to start off with the title card. I used the die cut piece that says hello. I added a little heart and then a half of a label. I felt like the photos on this left side were very color heavy so I used some white cardstock for the title card.

Let's dive right into my week. This was a pretty typical one. On Tuesday I went along with Noah to a school field trip. We visited our small local zoo and so I included a photo of the 2 of us and then a smaller one of him and some of his friends. I used the pink Tuesday cut apart card to tell my story of going on the field trip.

This week the kids were always searching for ladybugs in a patch of long grass that is in our backyard. I did add quite a few photos of them and the bugs.

Let's move on to the right side of my spread. I have a few more photos of the kids in the grass.

I used a few of the die cuts that were perfect for this week. My daughters had their assemblies for being on the Honor Roll and Principal's List ( Straight A's) so I layered these two to spell out Smart Girl. Another thing that I did was cut down one of the planner pages to make a 3x4 card. I love how it turned out.

I always get myself some Spring Flowers from Trader Joes. This week I chose these pink beauties and the colors were perfect. I added the gold puffy sticker that says HI onto the photo.

This pink and white striped card was another one that I cut from a planner page. I talked about how Noah received a reward for Math at his assembly. So I added the A+ to the top and then to add in some blue color with the label.

We took Noah out to lunch the day of his assembly to celebrate all his hard work.

One last photo to talk about. This week was kind of crazy and by Wednesday I was eating my ice cream out of the container. I took a photo and there you go.

That is a wrap for me today on the blog. Until next time, happy scrapping everyone !

Dream Big Layout

Good morning everyone! Sarah back this morning with my my second layout for the Fairytale club and I just love it all!! I have such a hard time choosing what to use, or what not to use I guess, since I have a hard time not using it all!!

I started with my photo and this great cut-file. I grabbed my cardstock and sprinkled some Gold color shine around it. While the color shine was drying, I backed the feathers on my dream catcher. Once it was done with backing the feathers I adhered  the feather portion of the cut file down and started layering papers behind my picture.

I grabbed a planner page and fussy cut that adorable unicorn out and layered it on the right side of the photo and added a few pretty little roses from the ephemera pack. Then slid it under the moon. Once I got the photo placed down where I wanted it, I glued the rest of the moon down. Then came the pretty sequins! I pulled almost all the gold sequins out and glued them down around the dream catcher.

I liked the layout, but wanted more color to it, so I trimmed down two sides and backed it with that beautiful, two colored dotted paper. I cut a triangle from one of the planner inserts, I loved the bows! I put that to the bottom right of the layout, trimmed down around the outside of a circle label I had already used the inside to, punched out the xo from the paper I cut the unicorn down from and then added that cute unicorn ephemera piece. I wanted one last touch, and added the So lovely word sticker and was done.

I hope you enjoyed this layout because I loved making it and I hope your enjoying playing with this beautiful kit!!

June "Storytime" Kit Reveal & "Mad Tea Party" Kit Reveal!!! :-)

Hello there everyone! It is Andrea here and I want to share with you our beautiful collection/kits available for June -- "Storytime" and "Mad Tea Party"! First I want to share with you our full June "Storytime" collection/kit! As you may remember from our sneak peak that we did in May, our kit for June, entitled "Storytime", has a theme of story-telling and focuses on the importance of story. And it is inspired by several Disney fairytales that have this "story" theme! Many of the Disney fairytales that inspired me also have "sea", "travel" and "adventure" themes, so you see those sub-themes in the collection as well.

The list of fairytales that inspired me for "Storytime" are: 1) Peter Pan , 2) Moana, 3) The Little Mermaid , 4) Fantasia , 5) Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Men Tell No Tales , 6) Beauty and the Beast. These fairytales all talk about the importance of stories...telling them, reading them, the adventure that comes with story, the beauty of story, and the impact and influence of story on our lives. I think, most importantly, these fairytales say a lot about how important it is to tell our own story and to live our story to the fullest -- by living our lives with a sense of adventure, confidence, and possibility!

The color scheme for "Storytime" is very much inspired by the sea and the "mermaid lagoon" in Peter Pan. I wanted the collection to feel like you were in a beautiful, waterside, or even underwater environment...with lots of blues and greens as well as pinks and lavenders. The colors feel very ethereal and dreamy, with all the pretty and light pastels that really give you the feeling like you are in a "mermaid lagoon".

The imagery of mermaids pops up a lot in "Storytime". I for one love mermaids and so when I decided to do this kit, and I felt inspired by both Peter Pan with the mermaids in Neverland, and also The Little Mermaid with Ariel and all her sisters, I knew that I wanted to include a lot of pretty mermaid imagery and references to mermaids.

One of my favorite pieces of mermaid imagery is the "Little Mermaids" patterned paper, with the different colors of cute, vintage style mermaids, in  a kind of scalloped row on the page. I also love the Planner Dividers with mermaids and mermaid references on them...like the one that says "I'm really a mermaid", the "M is for mermaid" divider, and the lovely red-headed mermaid divider (which may remind you of a specific sassy mermaid princess, longing to be human)!

I love all the fun travel inspired pieces in the kit too, especially the "Fairytale Adventure" patterned paper, which I made to be a kind of cut-apart sheet (or at least, it can be used as such), with all the cute luggage tags on it. Each of the six luggage tags, you will see, is inspired by one of the fairytales that inspired me to make this collection and has a location from each of those movies/stories.

The luggage tags speak to the travel theme, but also to the adventure theme...a theme that you can see with things like the planner divider that says "let me adjust my crown and begin this adventure". And also the "Black Pearl" and "Pixie-dust" patterned papers..which are references to Captain Jack and Tinker-bell -- two great adventurers!

There are lots of great embellishments in this collection, like the super adorable wood and enamel buttons! These buttons are so cute and useful for your planning and scrapbooking needs. I personally, use buttons and enamel dots a lot in both my planning and scrapbooking, and this is kind of the best of both worlds! I enjoy the little unicorn and mermaid buttons so much, but also love the more simple half and half buttons as well!

Other embellies in this kit include a fabulous ephemera package, some super useful tiny word and label stickers, and some really cool gold foiled, multi-colored chipboard alphas. All of these embellishments are perfect for both use in your planning and your scrapbooking. The ephemera packs that we do with our collection/kits are always one of my fave things! I particularly love that there are gold-foiled pieces mixed in the pack. The little "mermaid lagoon" piece is particularly cute I think, with the two mermaids sitting on the rock. I also love the "my story" script piece, the "adventure" script piece, and the gold-foiled "believe".

The "Storytime" collection has a lot of cute mermaids and sea imagery, travel references, and references to adventure...but again, the "story" theme is key, you can see this again and again, in the dividers, with the lovely brush-script quotes like "every new book I read is a new and exciting journey of imagination", and the "i heart books" divider. You see this with the "Storytime" patterned paper, which says "our life is the fairytale story that I like the best" and embellishment pieces like the tiny word stickers that say "our story", "documented" and "reading list" on them. I love all the "story" in "Storytime" and I imagine this whole collection like one big, amazing book that Belle would love to read -- a story of mermaids, travel, adventure, sea-voyage, and magical creatures like unicorns...but also a story of imagination and creativity, of bravery and perseverance, and the beauty of a bright and happy life, well lived!

And, wait...we're not done...because this month, in addition to our main collection for June, "Storytime", we also have our special, limited edition add-on collection/kit, "Mad Tea Party"! The "Mad Tea Party" was made for and inspired by our incredible Mad Tea Party event at Disneyland! It is super, duper cute and filled with Alice in Wonderland imagery and also tons of Disneyland imagery!

With our main collections that we put out each month, we always use Disney fairytales as inspiration, but the theme of "Disney" is usually quite understated -- this is done purposely so that you can use these kits whether you are documenting Disney-themed things or not in your planning and scrapbooking. With this "Mad Tea Party" kit, the Disney references are much, much more overt and obvious! You get Mickey and Minnie images, you get Sleeping Beauty's caste, you get Tinkerbell, and you get a ton of Wonderland themed goodies too!

You get Mickey and Minnie images, you get Sleeping Beauty's caste, you get Tinkerbell, and you get a ton of Wonderland themed goodies too!

I love all the Tea Party in Wonderland pieces, like the "we are all mad here" divider, which is my favorite divider in the kit!!! You can see on the divider, different images from that classic story, mixed in with the curly-cued brush script -- like the Cheshire cat's smile, Alice's bow, a heart and a spade, pieces of a tea set, a butterfly, and the White Rabbit's pocket-watch!

The color scheme for this add-on kit is very similar to the color scheme for the June "Storytime" kit, so you can totally combine the two and intermix if you want. The colors for "Mad Tea Party" are pinks, blues, lavenders and mints, and a few little touches of yellow as well. It should be noted that you can also mix this add-on kit in nicely with your "Girly and Strong" May kit because most of these colors can also be found in that kit too!

My favorite patterned papers from this kit are "A Couple of Mice" with Mickey and Minnie smooching on the front, and the beautiful watercolor on the back, "My Castle" with our Fairytale Club castle (which is our version of Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle). and "The Golden Afternoon"! I have to say that "The Golden Afternoon" may be my absolute favorite because it is just so beautiful! For this pattern, I drew and water-colored a mix of lovely flowers...meant to signify all the pretty flowers that Alice meets and sings with in Wonderland!

Since this is a smaller, add-on kit, I choose to make cut-apart sheets that would have both pocket 3x4 and 4x6 cards in them, as well as a bunch of smaller pieces to serve as ephemera for the kit. I particularly love all the tickets that come in this collection! I did a long row of them on one of the cut-apart sheets and they have things like Mickey Mouse ears and hearts on them!

The dividers for this collection/kit are so awesome! I particularly love the "photo-realistic" ones of the castle and also the cute Mickey balloon! They are both so lovely!

And one of my favorite things about this kit, is that we have included a two page calendar spread to document and plan your month of June!

Alright, well that is it for our collection/kits for this month! I hope you enjoy both "Storytime" and "Mad Tea Party"! I love both of them so much!!! I love the pastels, I love the pixies, the mermaids, the unicorns... I also really love the fact that there are a lot of versatile patterns and things in there too -- like all of our wonderful blues and greens and black and white patterns which can be used to document both boys and girls and different themes and subjects! You will love the options that these kits give you! Use "Storytime" to document and plan out you and your family's story...stories of summer, of the sea-side, of books and reading, of staying home or going out, of adventures big and small! And use "Mad Tea Party" to document your fabulous Disney adventures with the ones that you love -- whether those adventures are at Disneyand, Disneyworld, another Disney Park, or just at home, watching Disney movies in the theater or on the couch with your family and friends!

Hugs! Happy Planning and Scrapping...and remember to "live your life as a fairytale"! Kits will be available for purchase starting tomorrow! If you are already subscribed to The Fairytale Club, you will be receiving your June "Storytime" kit when it starts shipping out ...if you want the "Mad Tea Party" kit tough, you need to go into your account and add that on.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our first event!!! Everything was just so special and felt like a fairytale dream come true!!!

I want to let the ladies who came to the event know that the gallery with the pics from the event will be up sometime tomorrow I believe. I will notify you all of this so we can make sure everyone who came gets access to all the pics that they want from that day.

So Happy/Sarah

Hello everyone!

Sarah here today with my first layout as part of the Fairytale club design team, and oh man am I so excited!!

Today I'm sharing my first layout with the May, Girly and Strong kit! This kit is so beautiful! It was so hard for me to even cut into these papers, but I managed! lol I started going through this kit when I got it and saw all the bows and it made me think of this bow cut-file that I had sitting in my computer and I had never used. I decided to cut that out and started backing some of the bows with the pretty papers.

PSX_20170605_154902.jpg

After I backed the ones I was going to back, I went back through the papers again to find my background papers. Once I chose my background, I adhered the cut-file down, layered a few of the color blocks from the cut apart sheet to my photo and popped it up on some 3D foam.

I added one of the pretty wooden paperclips to the top left of the photo. Then I broke into the ephemera die-cut pack and started on my embellishment clusters

I usually add at least 3 embellishment clusters around my layout. I don't always fallow that rule, the visual triangle rule, but I do find myself doing that quite a bit. I added some pretty sequins for some bling and was done.

I had a blast making this layout and cant wait to break into the next one!

NSD Challenge - A Happily Ever After

Hi Everyone, Andrea and Vanessa here today to share with you a fun Fairytale challenge that is all about planning & documenting your own Happily Ever After!  So for this challenge, what we want  you to do is plan or scrap about the person or persons who have given you the "happily ever after" in  your life! So make something about the person or people you love and show how they have changed your life! Specifically those you love in a non-romantic way -- like your family and friends.

In Fairytales, there is often a Prince Charming or some fairytale romantic figure who falls for and saves the heroine and they both "live happily ever after". Sometimes in life though, a "happily ever after" is not always about romantic love. In the case of Vanessa, she has recently had a beautiful baby named Patrick who has changed her life and brought great love into it! See how she documents her brand new baby boy in her planner, with her dashboard spread. Vanessa used the "my favorite-est" 3x4 card from the kit to show how much this new addition to her family means to her.

Now we leave it to you to follow along with this challenge... You can plan or scrap or do some other papercrafting project...but the point is to document the person or people who have made your life one that is lived "happily ever after"...well, at least mostly, right?! And especially those in your life that you love in a non-romantic way...like your kids, siblings, best friends, parents, etc.

Good luck with the challenge and have fun!  Remember to share what you do on our Facebook page, The Fairytale Club Facebook Group ! Share in the share thread for this challenge and get a chance to win a gift certificate for The Fairytale Club!!! You can also share on instagram with the hashtags #thefairytaleclub #fairytalechallenge #nsdpart2 ...and make sure to specify which challenge you are doing in your post.

Fairytale Note: Think of the movie Frozen when you do this challenge. This movie is so great because it has the traditional "happily ever after" fairytale "true love" that is romantic (i.e. the love between Kristoff and Anna), but also the familial "true love" that is so beautiful and just as important and impactfull for a persons' "happily ever after" (i.e. the love between Anna and Elsa). Think about how much the two sisters love each other, what they do and sacrifice for one another...and think about how beautiful the love of family is!

NSD Challenge - The Every day sort of Fairytale

Hello everyone ! It's Mindi here with you today. I am going to be sharing my NSD 2 Challenge and of course it involves fairytales. My challenge for you today is to capture and document the every day sorts of Fairytales that make up your life.

Your version of Every Day Fairytale may be hanging out at home with your family, or it may be going exploring to a place that you have never been. Pocket Pages are the perfect home for this challenge. I chose to document a spread in my Week In The Life album from this year. You don't have to use pocket pages though. Make a traditional page, TN spread, or even a planner page to document what makes up your Every Day Fairytale.

This spread is in my WITL album is from Wednesday. Most of the photos are from when the kids and I went out to one of their favorite local places, the park. I cut that cute strip from one of the cut apart sheets.

My challenge inspiration primarily came from this quote. I just love it ! I added it onto some of this yellow patterened paper and added the bow on top.

Here are few more photos from our afternoon at the park.

Okay that is it for me. I turn it over to you all to create something using your version of an ever day Fairytale. The possiblilities are endless.

Fairytale Note: Think of the movie "Up" and the characters Carl and Ellie, when you do this challenge! They are an everyday couple living a "normal" life, but really they are having this incredible fairytale adventure everyday of their lives together because that is what real love is (and this is what Carl realizes at the end of the movie)! Love and all those little, beautiful things that we do in our lives with our loved ones -- that is what counts and it all adds up to an incredible, wondrous, magical fairytale!!! So document your everyday fairytale with the people you love today!!! (P.S. Notice how Carl and Ellie are scrapbookers...they documented their fairytale adventure that was their everyday life in a scrapbook album and I just love that)!!!
