Love Us with Allie

Hello there! Allie here today, and I'm sharing my second layout using the Take Note kit. My favorite part of these kits is the patterned paper, and I'm trying to us a many of the patterns on my pages as possible! This layout was no exception.

To create this layout, I cut strips of patterned paper 2.25" wide and scored them .25" on each side. I used a distressing tool to distress the edges and then rolled them up on each side. I each strip on top of each other and adhered them edge to edge, creating a dimensional background!

Next, it was time to add my photo. I backed it with a doily and attached it to the dimensional background using pop dots. I added flowers fussy cut from my favorite paper beneath the doily, and added a puffy sticker title! Finally, I finished off by adding stickers and die cut butterflies.

I had so much fun creating this page, and using all these gorgeous patterned papers! Using a distressing tool or folding up edges of paper is always a great way to add texture and dimension to your photos. Thanks for joining me!

Document Everyday with Ashley

Hello!  It's Ashley, and I'm back to share another layout with you, using this month's Take Note Kit!  The mix of Pinks and Blues in this Kit are perfect for fun, girly layouts.  I wanted to use a photo of our oldest daughter with her youngest cousin because they are just too cute together!

Document Everyday.png

The Something Wonderful patterned paper made a perfect background for my layout.  I love the Teal angled lines, but the pattern doesn't overwhelm the rest of the design.  I wanted to add some more movement to go along with the lines in the background, so I cut several butterflies from this month's coordinating cut files.  I also drew three larger butterflies with my Silhouette Cameo Sketch Pens, and hand stitched each one in a different color embroidery floss.  I arranged all of the butterflies in a diagonal design.

Once I had all of the butterflies in place, I machine stitched through the patterned paper butterflies.  I like the little touch of stitching down the center of each one.  I used the Puffy Word Stickers and Ephemera to create the title for my layout.  I lined my title up with the lines from the background paper, to give it a fun tilt.

For the finishing touches, I scattered some of the Puffy Stickers, Stickers and Ephemera throughout the diagonal design of the butterflies.  It's fun to spot different embellishments mixed in with the butterflies...kind of like an embellishment scavenger hunt!!

I'm having so much fun creating with the Take Note Kit!  I'll be back next week to share one more guest designer layout with you!  I hope you've been inspired so far, with some new ideas for using this month's Kit and cut files!

I'm In! Shaker Dashboard with Carolee

Hey everyone! Your friendly neighborhood Carolee here with a fun and easy shaker dashboard project using Take Note!

first.png

First up, the back. I love this divider so I decided to use it in a way where it's easily reusable, like this shaker dashboard! So, I found a properly sized pocket page (this was a 6x8 by Simple Stories, I think) and used that as my base with the divider.

Next up, I selected a few of my favorite die cuts. There seemed to be a pattern after the first two so I stuck to small shapes with gold foil. That made it so much easier to pick out the rest. Having a theme makes future decision making so much easier! Lastly, those die cuts needed friends, sparkly friends! The first couple of Happily Ever After sets came with a bag of sequins so I dug into those to find some that worked with the die cuts and the general tone of pink the divider was.

bottom.png

Next up, I like to glue some of the sequins in place so that if everything's down at the bottom, it doesn't look bare up top. I use glue dots because they're easy AND sometimes the glued down sequins make friends with other loose sequins and make pretty clusters.

Finally, it was time to finish off the dashboard. First, I used my Fuse tool and sealed up the top of the pocket so none of the sequins would get loose. You could also use some adhesive inside the pocket, a sewing machine to stitch it closed or maybe a line of coordinating washi to seal it shut. Then I adhered the butterfly die cut I had been saving. I really like to add an extra layer of dimension by putting something on the outside of the pocket. Lastly it was time to deal wtih the pesky problem of wrong holes. You see, the pocket page I picked had two holes in it which corresponded to the middle rings of each set on my planner. When things like this happen, I generally just lay down a piece of washi and then repunch the holes. You can also use this trick if you mess up punching the first time. Easy peas!

So, that's it! I hope it inspires you to try one of your own. Tag me @onecraftypotato if you do! Until next time, happy crafting!

New Kit Sneak Peek! : "This is Halloween" :-) !!!!!

Hi, Everyone! Here is the sneak peek for our upcoming new and exciting kit! I am so very, very excited for this one guys, because it is all about my favorite time of year...Halloween! In fact, I named it "This is Halloween" !!!! And that is because, to me, this kit is what Halloween is all about...happy, magical, and spooky cute goodness that just makes me smile with pure wonder!

Of course, I also named the kit what I did... as you may have guessed....because it is inspired by a couple of my fave Disney Halloween fairytales/movies...one of which has a song about a town called Halloween that is a kind of magical, spooky, and strange wonderland...and another which takes place on Halloween, in the middle of Salem, with a few very bewitching individuals! Maybe you have guessed my two inspirations already...I will officially reveal them when I do the full reveal, but I'm guessing that you know at least the first one due to my choice of title for the kit!

Anyhow, I really am so thrilled to show you this first look at the new kit! I love, love, love Halloween and I think you are going to love "This is Halloween"! There are so many cute witches and cats and jack-o-lanterns and ghosts and bats...oh my!!! And the kit has both the traditional orange and black Halloween colors, as well as some fresh and oh so fabulous pink and green and lavender thrown in to the color scheme, too! It is so fun, and it absolutely reflects the spirit of the Holiday, which is one of magic, wonder, and a sweet-spooky silliness that captivates all of us who dare to wish upon stars and believe in fairytales!

Love Note with Guest Designer Ashley Horton

Hi Fairytale Club fans!  I'm Ashley Horton, and I'm excited to be guest designing this month with the fun Take Note Kit!  There are so many happy colors and embellishments!  I also used cut files for this month, that you can access if you purchased this month's Happily Ever After kit.

Love Note.png

I started my layout, by choosing the Black & White heart paper for my background.  I usually like to work with a patterned paper for my background and try to choose something subtle.  Even though the hearts are on the larger side, the Black & White color make it more of a neutral pattern, so I thought it would be great for the background paper.  Then I repeated the word "love" in Silhouette Studio, welded the words together and cut it from the Pink notebook patterned paper.  Once I had it in place on the layout, I machine stitched through each of the words.

Love Note1.png

I placed my photo on the right-hand side of the layout and changed it to Black & White to tie in with the background paper and also to help it stand out from the embellishments on the layout.  I always like to cluster embellishments and sometimes my title around the photo.  I used some pieces from the Ephemera Pack around the photo and two of the words from the pack to create my title.

Next, I wanted to add some dimension to the layout with the Puffy Word Stickers.  I placed them in two different spots on the layout, to help create a visual triangle.  I love that you can mix the words to create fun phrases and titles.

I finished the layout, by adding some hearts from the Ephemera Pack over the hearts on the patterned paper.  You could also add some color to the hearts on the background paper, with watercolors or colored pencils for a custom look!

I hope you've been inspired with some ideas for using your Take Note Kit this month!  And I'll be back a couple of times this month to share some more inspiration with you!  See ya next time!!

Odessa's Project Life Process with Take Note

Hi! Odessa here with my first layout on the Fairytale Club team! I was so excited to get Take Note in the mail. I just love the colours and images in this kit. I lean pretty girly in my layouts, even though my family is all boys so working with a kit like this is my jam!!!

IMG_3321.JPG

I started by picking my fave papers (which was hard because they are all so good!) from the kit and then adding in a focal journal card from the cut apart sheet. Once I get that done it's time for my favourite part, embellishing!!! The embellishments in Take Note are perfect! Word stickers annnd puffy words?!? Word stickers of any type are my fav kind of Embellishment. There's also some great stickers, cute epoxy shapes and fabulous die cuts that all go so well together. I <3 how cohesive every single piece is.

IMG_3327.JPG

I usually start embellishing by laying down some word stickers and then working around them. It helps me figure out my main themes and what I'm saying and after that, I get in this zone where everything else falls into place. I just had to use that cute die cut deer and one of the ticket die cuts was perfect as a header for some journaling about a concert I went to.

IMG_3328.JPG

Once I've got all the embellishing done I finish up with some journaling. I journaled three different ways on this layout. On the top row, I used one of the label stickers to add a few words to a screen shot of a song I'm loving on Spotify right now. In the next row, I have a picture of a Frappuccino that had some good word stickers up the side. I added a touch of journaling right on the picture - the whip cream was a perfect spot to write! Then in the bottom row in the middle I used the ticket die cut as a header and wrote right on the paper (Something Wonderful! which might be my fav paper in the whole collection). I love how it looks next to the concert photo next to it.

IMG_3326.JPG

Once I've got the journaling done I give it one more look over and usually add a few more tiny stickers or adjust the placement of something. And then it's done! I hope you've enjoyed this peek into my process and I can't wait to share more Fairytale Club inspiration with you!
